Real Madrid ready to listen to offers for Fran Garcia

Fran Garcia will likely leave Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, with Los Blancos putting the 24-year-old up for sale.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Fran Garcia does not have a long-term future at Real Madrid. Los Blancos re-signed the 24-year-old full-back in the 2023 summer transfer window but will listen to offers for him in the coming weeks.

Fran Garcia and his confusing Real Madrid journey

Fran Garcia was in and out of the starting lineup after rejoining Real Madrid from Rayo Vallecano in the 2023 summer transfer window. A native of Bolaños de Calatrava, he began his youth career in his hometown before moving to Real Madrid’s fabled La Fabrica division over a decade ago.

The 24-year-old progressed through the ranks in La Fabrica before making his first-team bow for Real Madrid in December 2018. However, with a clear pathway to first-team football not clear, the Spaniard joined Rayo Vallecano on loan in September 2020 before completing a permanent move a year later.

The Spanish defender established himself as one of the best full-backs in La Liga during his spell with Rayo Vallecano, spending three years at Estadio de Vallecas before returning to Real Madrid last summer. However, the move did not pan out as well as Garcia would have liked, with regular game time coming at a premium.

What next?

While Fran Garcia turned out 31 times and chipped in with one goal and six assists, he managed only 1,688 minutes of game time, with Ferland Mendy being the first-choice left-back for Real Madrid. His minutes dwindled in the second half of the 2023/24 season, with Ancelotti barely rotating the Frenchman.

So, it is hardly surprising that high-profile clubs have noticed Fran Garcia’s situation, with Borussia Dortmund reportedly among his prospective suitors. The Spaniard is now close to leaving Real Madrid only a year after returning to the Santiago Bernabeu, with Los Blancos putting him up for sale.

Carlo Ancelotti and Florentino Perez have disagreed on the left-back conundrum, with reports linking Real Madrid with Alphonso Davies and Miguel Gutierrez. Garcia has become the victim of that issue, with a departure from the Santiago Bernabeu on the cards for the 24-year-old Spanish full-back.
