Omari Hutchinson set to complete Ipswich Town permanent move

Chelsea winger Omari Hutchinson is all set to join Ipswich Town permanently, and Arsenal will receive a part of the transfer fee.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Ipswich Town have reached an agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of Omari Hutchinson. The Jamaican winger is all set to permanently join Kieran McKenna’s team after helping them gain promotion to the Premier League last season.

Hutchinson came up the ranks at Arsenal before joining Chelsea’s Under-21 setup in the summer of 2022. The move to the West London club has not really worked out for him as he only has two first-team appearances so far. In search of regular first-team action, he joined Ipswich Town on a season-long loan last summer.

The 20-year-old was involved in 50 matches last term, and he contributed towards 17 goals (11 goals, six assists). The majority of his appearances came on the right flank, but he was also used as a number ten as well as on the opposite flank.

While the Jamaican forward has returned to his parent club, Ipswich Town are working hard to sign him on the back of his impressive performances for them last season. They are back in the Premier League after around two decades. McKenna is looking to ensure they retain the core of their team and add more quality to maintain their top-flight status next season.

Ipswich Town strike a deal with Chelsea for Hutchinson

They have been engaged in talks with the West London club for some time now and have finally managed to strike a deal to bring Hutchinson back to the club. Ipswich Town will pay around £22 million including add-ons for his services.

The Blues have agreed to not include a buy-back clause in his contract. But, they have managed to secure a sell-on clause which will help them earn from his future sale. While Ipswich are forking out £22 million to sign the 20-year-old, the Blues will not be receiving the entire amount.

His former club Arsenal had included a sell-on clause when he joined rivals Chelsea as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano earlier. As a result, the Gunners will be receiving a part of the fee from his permanent transfer to Ipswich Town.
