Chelsea agree deal with Aston Villa for Omari Kellyman

Chelsea have agreed a deal with Aston Villa for the transfer of Omari kelly man in a £19 million deal, with medicals to follow next.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have agreed a £19 million deal with Aston Villa to sign Omari Kellyman. The Blues will now conduct medical tests for the teenage striker, who is keen on the switch to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea agrees on Omari Kellyman deal

Chelsea had earmarked a move for Aston Villa teenager Omari Kellyman, and now they have agreed on a deal with the Birmingham-based side. The 19-year-old attacker will move towards his medicals in the next phase, as the Blues will pay a reported £19 million fee.

The move has come as a bit of a surprise for Chelsea fans, who, in fairness, had not heard about Kellyman before being linked with the 19-year-old attacker. However, it’s part of the club’s plans to buy the best young profiles from around and build a team for the future, as they have done on multiple occasions since the new owners took over.

Kellyman played a total of 58 senior minutes for Aston Villa last season in all competitions, which has raised questions about the £19 million price Chelsea is willing to pay. The Blues firmly believe he tends to have a great career and recognise the teenager’s ceiling for the future.

Chelsea are eyeing new strikers

Chelsea are by no means about to close their striker chapter with the capture of Kellyman, as they are in the market for more young strikers. Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran remains a target, and despite the deal for the 19-year-old attacker, they are keen to sign the Colombian as well.

Hoffenheim’s Maximilian Beier is also a target, while Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion remains firmly on their list as they have already seen a bid rejected by the Spanish side. Overall, it does appear like Chelsea are not about to stop in their pursuit of young forwards, and may end up signing one of those mentioned above.

As for Kellyman, he might not be integrated into the first-team plans immediately for next season as the club might send him out on loan, probably to sister club Strasbourg. Meanwhile, they might sell Armando Broja who has Stuttgart’s interest and not in the plans of the club ahead of the new season.
