Chelsea, Manchester United told to pay £20 million to sign Aaron Anselmino

Chelsea have submitted an offer to sign Argentine defensive sensation Aaron Anselmino amidst interest from Manchester United.

According to a report from The Mirror, Chelsea have submitted their opening bid for the services of Aaron Anselmino as they look to build for the future. The Blues are keen on adding the Argentine defensive sensation to their squad amidst interest in his services from Manchester United.

Anselmino has had an impressive rise at Boca Juniors. While he was promoted to their first team just six months back, multiple top clubs have been following his progress from his days in their academy. The 19-year-old centre-back has featured in 10 matches for their Argentine club’s senior team and he even has a goal to his name.

He is considered to be one of the best young talents in all of South America and Chelsea are pushing hard to ensure he makes the move to Stamford Bridge. The Blues have already signed some top-quality young players in the past few windows as they look to build a team for the future and they feel Anselmino could play a big part in the long run.

Chelsea’s initial offer not good enough?

The London club have been closely monitoring the teenager for several months. They entered negotiations with Boca Juniors earlier this week and have finally submitted their initial offer, which is believed to be just over £14 million. The Blues are unlikely to succeed with their opening bid as the report suggests that the Argentine club are reluctant to accept the offer.

They are not willing to negotiate anything lower than his £20 million release clause and are also keen on ensuring they have a sell-on clause to entitle them to future profit. Chelsea want to send Anselmino on loan to sister club Strasbourg in France after signing him while Boca want to keep hold of the 19-year-old until the end of the year.

Manchester United also keen on Anselmino

While the Blues are working hard to sign him, Manchester United have also shown interest in the defensive sensation. They have scouted him on multiple occasions in recent months.

Raphael Varane has already left United and on top of that, the future of Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelöf is also uncertain. As a result, the Red Devils want to reinforce their backline. While the priority is to bring in a world-class centre-back, they are also considering signing Anselmino at the same time to add depth to their backline.
