Carlo Ancelotti reportedly wants Real Madrid to sign 28-year-old Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Fabian Ruiz is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti is driving Los Blancos’ move for the 28-year-old Paris Saint-Germain as he wants to reunite with his former Napoli charge after Toni Kroos’ departure following his retirement.
The Fabian Ruiz story at PSG
Fabian Ruiz has struggled to assert himself since joining Paris Saint-Germain from Napoli in August 2022. The Spaniard was among the best midfielders in the world during his spell with the Partenopei but has not brought that form and rhythm to the Ligue 1 club, partly due to a lack of game time.
The 28-year-old is apart of a packed midfield unit at PSG and managed less than 2,500 minutes of game time across 35 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with three goals and seven assists. However, Ruiz is a mainstay in the middle of the park for Spain, starting both games thus far in UEFA Euro 2024 while scoring and assisting once.
With Ruiz proving his credentials at the international level, he has repaired his image. The Spanish international has attracted interest from high-profile clubs like Tottenham Hotspur. In addition, the former Napoli talisman has an admirer in Carlo Ancelotti, who wants a reunion at Real Madrid.
Ruiz and Ancelotti to reunite at Real Madrid?
Real Madrid can do with a midfielder like Fabian Ruiz in the summer transfer window. Toni Kroos has called time on his illustrious career and will leave a gaping hole in the midfield department at the Santiago Bernabeu. In addition, Dani Ceballos faces an uncertain future at Real Madrid heading into the summer transfer window.
So, several midfielders, including Adrien Rabiot, have emerged on Real Madrid’s radar. However, Ruiz is also a viable target, with Ancelotti keen on a summer reunion at the Bernabeu. The 28-year-old PSG midfielder should not cost a bomb either.
However, it will be interesting to see how much the Ligue 1 champions demand to part ways with him in the summer transfer window. For now, Ruiz has emerged as a target for Real Madrid through Carlo Ancelotti.
