Tottenham have added Fabian Ruiz to their list of new midfielders to target during the January window, as the PSG star could move.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham could look at the idea of signing Fabian Ruiz from PSG in the January window. Ange Postecoglou wants to strengthen his midfield during the next window, especially if Spurs are able to keep up their hunt for the title, with the 27-year-old Spanish international’s experience seen as vital.

Tottenham have had a wonderful start to the season and increased their lead following their win over Crystal Palace on Friday night. The win over Fulham last Monday made Ange Postecoglou the first Premier League manager to accumulate 23 points after nine games.

They have since collected another three against Palace, and the manager will hope they remain in the hunt when the January window opens. There’s tremendous pressure on Tottenham to collapse in this title race, but so far, they have not shown any signs of it yet.

When they arrive in January, Postecoglou remains keen to strengthen certain areas of their squad, with central defence and midfield one of his priorities. Tottenham are looking at different centre-back options, including Uruguay international Sebastian Caceres and Danish star Victor Nelsson.

In terms of the midfield, they do have a solid depth in that position beyond their starting pair of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr. The need for a new player might arise from the potential departures of a few fringe stars, including Juventus-linked Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovanni Lo Celso.

The latter has suffered from a lack of game time, while the Dane has been replaced in the starting lineup. Despite a wonderful performance against Fulham last Monday, Hojbjerg found himself on the bench against Palace.

Hence, they may need a new midfielder, with Postecoglou also considering a young star like Arthur Vermeeren as a potential option. However, Spurs are now considering a move for 27-year-old Spanish international midfielder Fabian Ruiz, who has lost his place at PSG.

Teenage star Warren Zaire-Emery has taken his spot, and PSG might consider a sale of the 27-year-old Spanish international midfielder in January. There are other teams like Real Madrid keen on Ruiz, but the PSG man might look to join a club where he plays regularly.

At Tottenham, he might come in to replace Hojbjerg, but they must tie up a move early, considering their current midfield pair will jet off to the AFCON. Moreover, any move will depend on the price PSG might demand, with Spurs unlikely to pay over the odds for the experienced star.
