Premier League giants Chelsea, Tottenham, and Newcastle United are set to miss out on French sensation Rayan Cherki.
According to a report from Graeme Bailey on HITC, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Newcastle United are losing the race for the services of Rayan Cherki. All three Premier League outfits have a long-standing interest in the Lyon sensation. But it seems they are fighting a losing battle.
Cherki has come up the ranks at Lyon, and he has been a part of their first team since the winter of 2020. The young attacking midfielder has gone from strength to strength over the years, and his impressive rise has not gone unnoticed.
English trio pushing for Cherki’s signature
Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked with the 20-year-old. The Blues’ new project revolves around signing the best young players from across Europe and the world, and Cherki is certainly one of them. While the youngster prefers playing as a number ten, he can also start out wide on either flank when needed.
His abilities on the ball along with his impressive display in the final third is why the West London club are keen on signing him. As far as the Magpies are concerned, they seek more firepower in attack and feel Cherki could be a great signing for their project, which aims to establish them as one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Tottenham also want more depth in attack, and Cherki could be an ideal cover for James Maddison. He could also give Ange Postecoglou more tactical options because of his versatility. While all three Premier League clubs have been monitoring him for a while now, they are all set to miss out on the French youth international, as he has his heart set on a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG front-runners in Cherki’s pursuit

Les Parisiens have opened talks with Lyon over a deal worth around £15 million. The player is keen on making the move to Paris and playing under Luis Enrique.
