Crystal Palace will look to tie the £60 million-rated Marc Guehi to a new contract to thwart Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are interested in Marc Guehi. The Englishman has a price tag of around £60 million. However, Crystal Palace will aim to keep hold of the young defender beyond the summer transfer window by tying him to a new contract.
The rapid rise of Marc Guehi
Marc Guehi has been one of the best young defenders in the Premier League since joining Crystal Palace from Chelsea in July 2021. A mainstay at the back for the South London club, the English defender has also established a foothold in his national team, turning out 12 times thus far for the Three Lions.
The 23-year-old has turned out 111 times thus far for Crystal Palace, chipping in with five goals and two assists. Meanwhile, Guehi’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
A man in demand
While Liverpool and Manchester United need a centre-back who can be the first-choice option in the backline, Arsenal will look to bring in a backup for William Saliba. Nevertheless, the Gunners are keen on securing Marc Guehi’s services, closely monitoring his progress in the last few years.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in Marc Guehi stems from Joel Matip’s departure as a free agent. In addition, Ibrahima Konate blew hot and cold in the 2023/24 season. So, it behoves Liverpool to invest in a top-class centre-back. As for Manchester United, they are scouring the market for a central defender after losing Raphael Varane as a free agent.
Erik ten Hag wants a new first-choice partner for Lisandro Martinez, bringing Guehi into the picture. However, Crystal Palace will look to thwart Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal by looking to tie the 23-year-old Englishman to a new contract. Meanwhile, they value the former Chelsea defender at around £60 million.
So, Guehi will either cost a premium in the summer transfer window or sign a new contract with Crystal Palace. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United turn the England international’s head.
