Conor Gallagher makes stance clear on Chelsea future

Conor Gallagher prepared to sign new Chelsea deal amid Tottenham interest ahead of the 2024 January transfer window..

Conor Gallagher has no intention of leaving Chelsea this summer despite the heavy interest from the likes of Tottenham and Aston Villa.

According to HITC, Conor Gallagher will not make a hasty decision on his future and has no intention of leaving Chelsea as things stand. The midfielder has garnered tremendous interest from the likes of Tottenham and Aston Villa, with the Blues still unsure about his immediate and long-term future.

Conor Gallagher wants Chelsea stay?

Conor Gallagher could soon become one of the big transfer stories of this window, although the midfielder has shown no signs of wanting to leave Chelsea. The England international was one of the more prominent performers for Mauricio Pochettino’s side last season. However, there are doubts whether he will have his stature restord under new boss Enzo Maresca.

There have been rumblings that Maresca does not see Gallagher fitting into his more possession-based system, which has further fueled speculation about the midfielder’s immediate future. On the other hand, Chelsea’s ownership group, Clearlake Capital, have made it abundantly clear to all squad members that no player will be allowed to run down their contract and leave on the free transfer.

Gallagher is about to enter the final year of his deal, and while there have been reports that Chelsea could offer him a new contract, no talks have materialised up until now. Moreover, the Blues are eager to bolster their finances with regard to PSR regulations, which makes the midfielder a sellable asset in this market.

However, Gallagher seems unfazed by speculation and believes he will not be forced out of Chelsea this summer. For now, he remains focused on things with England at the Euros, where he featured as a substitute in the narrow win over Serbia.

Gallagher said, “I’m a Chelsea player right now and I’m just thinking about England and the tournament. “It’s not difficult. I’m away with England and I couldn’t be happier with the position I’m in.

“I’ve just been focusing on England. This is the most important thing right now for me and the country. “I’m hoping I can help the team more on the pitch in this tournament.”

Aston Villa and Tottenham’s interest in Gallagher

While Chelsea are holding talks with Aston Villa for striker Jhon Duran, the two clubs might have spoken about the possibility of including Gallagher as part of the deal. The England international remains uninterested in a move to Villa, as per reports, although things could change depending on the offer Unai Emert’s side might make.

The same goes for Tottenham, who are planning on making an offer to test Chelsea’s stance on the midfielder. For now, Gallagher has sufficient interest, and with Villa, he could play Champions League football, although his allegiance to Chelsea remains strong, and he feels they cannot force him out of the club this summer.
