Chelsea fail with bid to sign Samu Omorodion

Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing 20-year-old Spanish forward Samu Omorodion from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea offered €40 million to sign Samu Omorodion. But the Spanish giants are unwilling to accept it. Atletico Madrid have already turned down the offer, and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will return with an improved package.

The 20-year-old attacker was on loan at fellow La Liga club Deportivo Alaves last season, and he managed to score nine goals in the league. Omorodion is highly rated in Spanish football, and could develop into a key player for Atletico Madrid in the coming seasons.

It is no surprise that Chelsea are keen on securing his signature. He would be a solid long-term investment for the Blues. Chelsea need to sign a quality striker and the 20-year-old could compete with Nicolas Jackson for the starting spot next season.

Omorodion has the physicality and technical attributes to do well in English football and he could have been a key player for Chelsea. Signing him for €40 million could prove to be a bargain in the future. The 20-year-old is likely to improve a lot with coaching and experience. He could establish himself as one of the best attackers in the Premier League with the right guidance.

Atletico Madrid will probably hope to keep him at the club for the long term, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. Chelsea are one of the wealthiest clubs in the Premier League, and they have the resources to submit a substantial offer for the player. It will be interesting to see if they decide to tempt Atletico Madrid with a lucrative proposal in the coming weeks.

Samu Omorodion needs to play regularly

The 20-year-old attacker will be hoping to play regularly next season. If Atletico Madrid cannot provide him with that opportunity, they should look to let him leave. He cannot afford to sit on the bench at this stage of his career, and regular football is imperative for his growth as a footballer.

Chelsea will be able to provide him with that opportunity. and he could be attracted to joining the Blues this summer. The youngster has been linked with other Premier League clubs, West Ham United, as well.

Chelsea struggled to score goals last season, and they were overly dependent on Cole Palmer. The English attacker needs more support in the attack, and signing a quality striker should be a top priority for the Blues this summer. It will be interesting to see if they can get in the right reinforcements before the summer transfer window closes. They cannot hope to challenge for major trophies without plugging the weaknesses in their squad.
