London duo West Ham United and Fulham are keen on Celtic mainstay Cameron Carter-Vickers to solve their defensive problems.
According to HITC, Cameron Carter-Vickers could get his opportunity over to return to London and play Premier League football again. Fulham and West Ham United are keen to target the Celtic mainstay this summer, as the London duo are keen on adding a strong defender to their squad.
London clubs want Cameron Carter-Vickers
Celtic paid a modest sum of £6 million to sign Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham after a season on loan, and the move has paid massive dividends. The defender has made over 100 appearances for the Scottish champions and is considered a key element of their team under manager Brendan Rodgers.
Celtic handed him a five-and-a-half-year deal back in January. But that may not stop the 26-year-old English-born American defender from returning to the Premier League, where Fulham and West Ham are showing an interest. Ipswich Town are also in the mood to test the Scottish side with an offer, but a move back to London may be what attracts the defender.
Fulham are in the market for a new centre-back after losing key man Tosin Adarabioyo on the free to Chelsea earlier this month. The Cottagers have other problems, such as finding a replacement for Bayern Munich-linked Joao Palhinha. But a central defender will be high on Marco Silva’s agenda.
Meanwhile, the Hammers have been very active in the market for a new central defender and have suffered some setbacks in different chases. Carter-Vickers boasts plenty of experience to come into either the Hammers or the Cottagers, as the 26-year-old English-born American defender can have an immediate impact on proceedings. All eyes will be on Celtic’s asking price, as they have the power in negotiations.
Fulham, West Ham chasing defenders?
Fulham are steadily entering the market to find a replacement for Adarabioyo and have signalled their intention to sign a few names. Luton Town’s Teden Mengi is a reported target for the Cottagers, while they might explore other names from outside of England as well.
As for West Ham, they may have suffered a few setbacks in their pursuit of signing a new defender, but they have other names on their list. Udinese star Neheun Perez is an option, while they are also considering a move for Le Havre’s promising defender Etienne Youte Kinkoue ahead of the next few weeks.
