Brazilian club Flamengo will reportedly look to sign 22-year-old Uruguayan international Facundo Pellistri from Manchester United this summer.
According to Sebastian Giovanelli, Facundo Pellistri is the subject of interest from Flamengo. The Brazilian giants are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window. And the 22-year-old Manchester United prospect has emerged as a viable target for the Scarlet and Blacks.
Facundo Pellstri and his Manchester United travails
Facundo Pellistri has had to bide his time since joining Manchester United from CA Penarol in October 2020. A native of Montevideo, he spent most of his formative years years in his homeland, passing through the academies at La Picada and River Plate Montevideo before graduating from the youth division at CA Penarol.
However, the 22-year-old has barely featured for Manchester United in the last four years, never getting the opportunity to nail down his spot in the final third. Pellistri has managed only 600 minutes of game time in 24 appearances thus far for Manchester United, chipping in with two assists.
Pellistri’s best phases have come during his loan spells at Deportivo Alaves and Granada. However, the youngster could not prevent Granada from getting relegated from La Liga in the 2023/24 season. Meanwhile, the Uruguayan international is getting ready to feature at Copa America 2024 with his national side.
However, Pellistri’s long-term future at Manchester United is uncertain, as he has only one year left on his contract. The Red Devils are reportedly ready to cash in on him in the summer transfer window. Such a situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several clubs across the world, including Flamengo.
Brazil beckons?
The Brazilian outfit will likely delve into the market for an offensive reinforcement in the summer transfer window. The Scarlet and Blacks have also shown interest in other young prospects, including Gui Ruck. However, Facundo Pellistri can be an immediate solution in the final third for Flamengo.
