Ferran Torres uninterested in leaving Barcelona amid West Ham United links

Julen Lopetegui’s West Ham United have suffered a major blow in their pursuit of Barcelona forward Ferran Torres.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, West Ham United are interested in the services of Ferran Torres. Julen Lopetegui, who has just taken charge of the Hammers, is keen on adding more firepower to his attack, and the Spanish international is one of the names on their wishlist. But, the player has no intentions of leaving Barcelona.

Torres came up the ranks at Valencia and made a name for himself while playing in La Liga before making the switch to Manchester City in 2020. After 18 months with the English giants, he returned to Spain, this time to defend the shirt of Barcelona.

The 24-year-old attacker has been a consistent performer for the Catalan giants over the years. In the 2023/24 campaign, he contributed towards 15 goals (11 goals, 4 assists) in less than 2000 minutes of first-team football. The Spaniard still has three years left on his deal at Barcelona. But there is interest in his services from England. West Ham United are one of the clubs keen on signing Torres.

West Ham keen on Torres, who wants Barcelona stay

The Hammers are in desperate need of reinforcement in attack, and Lopetegui has made it his priority to bring in a top forward. With Michail Antonio’s future uncertain and Danny Ings approaching the final phase of his career, they are looking to push for Ferran Torres’s services.

West Ham want him to be the leader of their attack going forward. The East Londoners are all set to make a move for his services as they are aware of Barcelona’s need to sell. The Catalan giants will have to sanction a few departures to balance their books, and Torres is considered to be one of the players who could make way.

While West Ham look ready to make a move, they have suffered a massive blow as the player has no intention of leaving Camp Nou. Despite not being a regular starter in the team, Torres is keen on continuing for another year. The Spanish international is aware of the competition for places at Barcelona but is not willing to give up.
