Chelsea expected to decide on Jhon Duran move soon

Chelsea could make a swift decision on Jhon Duran, but matters are complicated as they will only sign the player in a swap deal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea could make a decision on the Jhon Duran pursuit as they are keen on a swap deal with Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s side are open to a sale, and have their eyes set on Conor Gallagher, as the Colombian striker could get his wish to play at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea to make Jhon Duran’s decision soon

Chelsea have been linked with some notable striker names over the past six months or so. From Victor Osimhen to Ivan Toney and Benjamin Sesko, the Blues thought about many forwards in that period, but it appears they narrowed down their search to Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran.

Despite reports that the move had stalled, Chelsea are progressing well with talks and Aston Villa have shown positive signs about selling the striker. There’s talk of a swap deal, with Fabrizio Romano insisting the two clubs are discussing an exchange of sorts that could potentially see the Blues pay cash on top of letting another player join the Birmingham side.

Duran is keen on moving to Chelsea and will certainly see a massive improvement in his wages compared to what he earns at Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s side are desperate for sales before June 30, to balance their books in line with PSR regulations.

Romano also insists that Chelsea will make a swift decision on whether to go ahead with a deal for Duran or abandon this pursuit for other options. They do have more names on their list to bring competition in the No.9 position, although for now, the 20-year-old seems like their priority target.

Aston Villa to pursue Conor Gallagher?

With talk of a swap deal rife, there are some options that Villa might look at. For starters, they are about to lose Douglas Luiz to Juventus, which might cement their interest in Conor Gallagher, which has existed for a few weeks now.

Chelsea are keen to sell Gallagher, and this could be a brilliant opportunity for them to offload the midfielder that could see them benefit with the striker. Should they let the England international join Villa, then the chances of money exchanging hands are remote, although such a deal would benefit and satisfy both parties.
