Tottenham Hotspur are ready to battle it out with Aston Villa and West Ham United for the services of Ferran Torres.
According to a report from TBR Football, Barcelona are ready to sanction the departure of Ferran Torres for £30 million as they look to raise funds for summer signings. With the former Manchester City star available, Tottenham are ready to battle with rivals Aston Villa and West Ham United for his signature.
Torres came up the ranks at Valencia and made a name for himself at the Spanish club before making the switch to Manchester City back in 2020. Despite his huge potential, things did not go according to plan for him at the English club and in the winter of 2022, he ended up making a move to Barcelona.
While the Spaniard has been a consistent performer for the Blaugrana, he has failed to establish himself as a regular starter. Last season, Torres was involved in 42 matches but he was on the pitch for less than 2000 minutes. While his contract with the Spanish club runs until the summer of 2027, he could be on the move ahead of next season.
Barcelona ready to sell Torres
The Catalan giants are pushing hard to ensure they sign Joao Cancelo permanently. But, given their financial situation, they first need to offload Torres before they can submit a £20 million offer.
With Barcelona ready to part ways with the 24-year-old, who contributed towards 15 goals last season, there is interest from Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Ham. All three clubs have been informed that they can sign the Spanish international for £30 million.
Tottenham, Aston Villa, and West Ham keen on Torres
Tottenham are looking for more firepower after a decent start to life under Ange Postecoglou. The objective is to ensure they secure a top-four finish this time around. And Torres’s arrival will surely help their cause. His ability to feature anywhere in attack could greatly boost the Australian manager’s options.
As far as Aston Villa are concerned, they are all set to feature in the Champions League and need more depth in all departments. Torres could provide cover for Ollie Watkins, and Unai Emery could also use him on either flank depending on the team’s need.
West Ham are also keen on the 24-year-old as they desperately need to reinforce their attack. Both their top strikers (Michail Antonio and Danny Ings) are on the wrong side of 30, and the Barcelona star could just be the perfect fit for them. With three English clubs keen, it will be interesting to see who is willing to meet the Spanish club’s £30 million demands.
