Premier League heavyweights Liverpool are reportedly in the front row to sign 19-year-old Turkish sensation Kenan Yildiz from Serie A club Juventus.
According to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Kenan Yildiz is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Reds are scouring the market for an offensive reinforcement heading into the summer transfer window. And they are in the front row to sign the 19-year-old versatile attacker from Serie A club Juventus.
Kenan Yildiz and his Juventus journey
Juventus might have thought signing Kenan Yildiz from Bayern Munich on a free transfer in July 2022 was a coup. A native of Regensburg, he began his youth career at his hometown club, SV Sallern Regensburg, before joining Bayern Munich in July 2012. The youngster went from strength to strength at the Bavarian club before moving to Italy two years ago.
Yildiz graduated from the youth division at Juventus before making his first-team debut at the onset of the 2023/24 season. The 19-year-old gradually grew in stature, turning out 32 times in all competitions while chipping in with four goals and one assist in nearly 1,000 minutes of game time.
Meanwhile, Yildiz made his debut for the Turkish national team last year and has turned out seven times thus far for the side. The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, particularly from the Premier League, with Liverpool among his prospective suitors.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Liverpool’s interest in Kenan Yildiz is understandable. The Reds are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the futures of Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Luis Diaz. The situation compels Liverpool to pursue a player to bolster the offensive department.
Yildiz has thus emerged as a viable target for Liverpool, with the Merseyside club in the front row to secure his services in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, a deal for the Turkish international might cost around €40 million.
However, recent reports have claimed that Juventus might not cash in on the 19-year-old in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can tempt the Serie A giants to sell the youngster this summer.
