Liverpool and Newcastle United have reportedly submitted an enquiry for 19-year-old Dutch-born Spanish youth international Dean Huijsen.
According to Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale, Liverpool and Newcastle United are interested in signing Dean Huijsen in the summer transfer window. The two Premier League clubs have submitted an enquiry to ask for information about the 19-year-old Juventus defender, who will cost around €30 million.
Who is Dean Huijsen?
Dean Huijsen has emerged as one of the best young defenders in the world in the last few months. A native of Amsterdam, he began his youth career in Spain before graduating from the youth division at Juventus. However, the 19-year-old has had to bide his time, with regular first-team minutes coming at AS Roma.
The Dutch-born defender turned out 14 times for AS Roma, chipping in with two goals and one assist. Huijsen has returned to Juventus after his loan spell with the Giallorossi but might not remain at the Serie A club for a long time. The youngster’s progress has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.
Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on securing Dean Huijsen’s services in the summer transfer window. In addition, Mirko Di Natale has revealed that the Spanish youth international is a target for Borussia Dortmund. Meanwhile, Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Borussia Dortmund have submitted an enquiry for the teenage prospect.
Premier League beckons?
Liverpool’s interest in Dean Huijsen is understandable. The Reds are keen on signing a centre-back in the summer transfer window after losing Joel Matip as a free agent. Meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk is on the wrong side of 30. Huijsen has thus emerged as a viable target for Liverpool.
As for Newcastle United, the Magpies have signed one centre-back this summer, with Lloyd Kelly arriving from Bournemouth in a Bosman move. However, they want another centre-back, with Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles expected to miss the first half of the 2024/25 season. So, Huijsen is an option worth considering for Newcastle United.
