Newcastle United have reportedly contacted Crystal Palace for £60 million-rated attacker Michael Olise, a target for Chelsea and Manchester United.
According to a report by i News, Michael Olise is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies have contacted Crystal Palace to discuss a move for the young attacker, whose price tag is £60 million. Meanwhile, the 22-year-old prospect is also a target for fellow Premier League bigwigs Chelsea and Manchester United.
The Michael Olise story
Michael Olise has become one of the most highly sought-after players in the world since joining Crystal Palace from Reading in July 2021. The London-born former French youth international represented several high-profile clubs in his youth career, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City.
That illustrated Olise’s potential before he became a hot property in the transfer market. The 22-year-old proved his credentials in yet another campaign despite 2023/24 being an injury-riddled season, as he amassed ten goals and six assists in 19 Premier League appearances. The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, alerting Chelsea, Manchester United, and Newcastle United.
A man in demand
Recent reports have pointed to Chelsea being in the pole position to secure Michael Olise’s services. The Blues are more advanced than the other suitors to sign the Crystal Palace playmaker, who can be an upgrade on Noni Madueke and Mykhailo Mudryk. Chelsea should also have the funds to afford his price tag of £60 million.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s interest in Michael Olise is understandable. The right-wing berth is a problem area for the Red Devils, with Jadon Sancho and Antony failing to impress. In addition, Mason Greenwood is not in the scheme of things at Old Trafford. So, Olise is a viable target for Manchester United.
The latest report has revealed that Newcastle United have contacted Crystal Palace to discuss a deal for the 22-year-old. The Magpies are ready to sell Miguel Almiron this summer. Olise is thus an option worth considering to replace the Paraguayan international at Newcastle United.
Chelsea, Manchester United, and Newcastle United have the financial capacity to afford a move for Olise. However, the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules can potentially play spoilsport for the three Premier League clubs.
