Manchester City have reportedly made an enquiry for Dani Olmo as Pep Guardiola seeks an attack-minded midfielder.
According to Sports Zone, Manchester City are one of the clubs to have made an enquiry for Dani Olmo. The Spanish international is of interest to the likes of Pep Guardiola, who seeks an attack-minded midfielder to add to his squad in the summer, with the RB Leipzig star carrying a €60 million release clause.
Manchester City are chasing Dani Olmo?
Dani Olmo may consider offers from big clubs during the summer despite having a contract valid with RB Leipzig until 2027. The €60 million release clause in his deal makes the transaction rather straightforward for interested clubs, who will have to trigger it to secure the Spanish international.
The fact that Olmo is away with Spain for UEFA Euro 2024 will certainly delay any transfer until after the tournament, although his good performances may not affect the asking price. There is, however, a deadline set by Leipzig to trigger the clause, meaning interested clubs might have to decide before July 15, as per credible sources.
Manchester City hold an interest and are willing to step up their chase in the summer. Pep Guardiola could make do with a player of his profile and could see the Spaniard as a valuable addition to his current squad, especially with rumours stating that Bernardo Silva might depart.
Manchester City have made an enquiry alongside PSG for Olmo, with the €60 million-rated Bundesliga playmaker open to joining an important club should any offers come by. For Leipzig, they would ideally want to keep the attacking midfielder in their ranks, but they are somewhat helpless due to that €60 million release clause in the Spaniard’s contract.
Pep Guardiola is looking for an attack-minded midfielder
For weeks now, there has been speculation surrounding Manchester City’s interest in Lucas Paqueta and even Eberechi Eze. They might have ended the pursuit of the former owing to the betting charges levied upon him by the Premier League, while the latter seems like a favourite to join Tottenham.
Guardiola is bent on signing a new attack-minded midfielder, especially since Bernardo Silva has left, and he could strongly consider Olmo as a big option. His release clause may not stop Manchester City from making a move, as it is well within their price range.
