Manchester United in contact with Vitor Roque

Manchester United have reportedly contacted the representatives of Barcelona whizkid Vitor Roque over the possibility of a summer move.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, as relayed by Sport Witness, Vitor Roque is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils will compete with several other well-known clubs across Europe for the Barcelona whizkid. And they have already contacted the representatives of the disgruntled 19-year-old attacker.

Vitor Roque and his Barcelona travails

Vitor Roque was on cloud nine when he joined Barcelona from Athletico Paranaense in a deal worth €40 million in January. The Brazilian international eagerly waited to move to Europe after choosing the Blaugrana over other big-name suitors. However, the dream move has turned into a nightmare for the teenage sensation.

The 19-year-old barely featured for Barcelona in the second half of the 2023/24 season, managing only 353 minutes of game time across 16 appearances in all competitions while scoring two goals. So, the youngster might seek a departure from the Catalan club in the summer transfer window.

The versatile attacker does not have a shortage of suitors pursuing him, with FC Porto, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, RC Lens, Napoli, Lyon, OGC Nice, Sevilla, and Real Betis vying for his signature. Meanwhile, the disgruntled Barcelona whizkid is also a target for Manchester United.

Premier League move on the cards?

Manchester United’s interest in Vitor Roque is understandable. The Red Devils are scouring the market for a versatile attacker who can fill multiple positions. While the Barcelona prodigy is primarily a striker, he can also play on either flank equally adeptly. So, the youngster can be a makeshift right-wing solution for Manchester United.

The Red Devils have contacted Vitor Roque’s representatives to assess the possibility of a summer move. The report does not mention a price tag. However, it is fair to assume that Barcelona will seek a profit on the €40 million they paid to sign the 19-year-old if he leaves on a permanent transfer.

Meanwhile, Manchester United must fund stiff competition from several European bigwigs, many of whom can offer UEFA Champions League football. So, it will be interesting to see where the Brazilian international plies his trade next season.
