Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly considering signing versatile 24-year-old Polish defender Jakub Kiwior from Arsenal this summer.
According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Jakub Kiwior is the subject of interest from Juventus. The Serie A giants are keen on signing a centre-back in the summer transfer window. And they have set their sights on the versatile Arsenal defender, with the North London club demanding €20 million to sell the 24-year-old.
Jakub Kiwior and his Arsenal stint so far
Jakub Kiwior has had to bide his time since joining Arsenal from Spezia in January 2023. A native of Tychy, he spent his formative years in his hometown, graduating from the GKS Tychy youth division. However, the Pole rose in prominence after moving to Spezia from MSK Zilina. He has also represented Anderlecht.
As for Kiwior’s stint with Arsenal, he has been a backup player for the North London club. That was also the case in the 2023/24 season as the 24-year-old managed only 1,594 minutes of game time across 30 appearances in all competitions, with his versatility helping him secure game time in the second half of the campaign.
However, the Polish international will not be a first-choice starter next season unless a regular picks up a long-term injury. So, it is hardly surprising that Kiwior faces an uncertain future at Arsenal heading into the summer transfer window. A return to Italy might be on the cards, with Juventus and AC Milan showing interest in him.
Serie A return on the horizon?
Juventus’s interest in Jakub Kiwior is understandable. The Serie A giants are in a spot of bother over Gleison Bremer’s long-term future amid his links with Manchester United. In addition, Filip Kostic is on the wrong side of 30. So, the versatile Arsenal defender can be an alternative to the Serb at the Allianz Stadium.
Kiwior has thus emerged as a viable target for Juventus, although the Italian heavyweights’ top target is Riccardo Calafiori. Meanwhile, Arsenal will demand around €20 million to part ways with the 24-year-old Polish international.
With Kiwior getting another high-profile club chasing him, a return to Serie A might be in the pipeline for the the Pole. It will be interesting to see if his stint with Arsenal ends after 18 months.
