Real Madrid have agreement with Florian Wirtz over 2025 move

Real Madrid and Florian Wirtz reportedly have an agreement over a possible move in the 2025 summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet MARCA, Florian Wirtz is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the 2025 summer transfer window. The Bayer Leverkusen attacker is also a target for Barcelona. However, the Merengues have a pact with the 21-year-old for him to remain at the Bundesliga club for the upcoming season before joining them next year.

The rise and rise of Florian Wirtz

Florian Wirtz is one of the best young players in the world. The German international is already a pivotal figure for his club and country and has helped deliver the historic double in the 2023/24 season that saw Bayer Leverkusen not lose a single domestic game.

The 21-year-old has done well to overcome a long-term knee injury and continue his tremendous progress. Wirtz contributed to 38 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions this season, finding the back of the net 18 times while providing 20 assists. Such productivity helped Bayer Leverkusen to only one defeat in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Wirtz’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. While Premier League bigwigs are keen on signing the youngster, a move to La Liga might be on the cards, with Barcelona and Real Madrid vying for his signature.

La Liga move beckons?

Barcelona’s interest in Florian Wirtz is understandable, with Mundo Deportivo claiming they want to sign him in 2025. Ilkay Gundogan is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his illustrious career. So, Wirtz has emerged as a viable target as he can replace his compatriot at FC Barcelona.

However, Barcelona will likely lose the race to secure Florian Wirtz’s services to Real Madrid. Los Blancos will be the front-runners to sign the German international in 2025 due to a pact that entails the youngster to remain at Bayer Leverkusen for another season before moving to the Santiago Bernabeu next year.

With Real Madrid leading the race to sign Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, Barcelona will face an uphill task to land him. It will be interesting to see if things change in the upcoming 12 months, as Real Madrid and Barcelona vie for his signature.
