Newcastle United could demand £25 million to sell Yankuba Minteh

Newcastle United could accept a fee of £25 million for their teenage attacking sensation Yankuba Minteh amid interest from Liverpool.

According to a report from Football Insider, Newcastle United are ready to sanction the departure of Yankuba Minteh in the upcoming transfer window following an impressive loan spell at Feyenoord. The Gambia international has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs, and the Magpies are ready to cash in on him because of their financial situation.

Minteh had an impressive rise at Odense. In his debut season with their first team, he contributed 10 goals, and it resulted in interest from the Magpies who signed him last summer. They forked out £6 million to add him to their squad.

Newcastle United ready to cash in on Minteh

He was unlikely to have much game time at Newcastle United during the 2023/24 season. As a result, Eddie Howe’s team ended up sending him out on loan to Feyenoord, where he has put in quite a few impressive performances.

The 19-year-old winger found the back of the net on 11 occasions and even bagged six assists in under 2,000 minutes of first-team football. His sensational performances in the Eredivisie have resulted in a lot of interest, and Newcastle United are considering sanctioning his departure.

The reports suggest that £25 million will be enough to prise him away from the Tyneside club. The Magpies would have loved to have him around for years to come. But, to keep hold of their more established first-team stars, they are ready to cash in on the teenager amid financial constraints.

Liverpool interested in Minteh

They need to balance their books to ensure they avoid breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules. The 19-year-old’s departure can surely help their cause, and Liverpool are the ones keen on his signature.

Arne Slot, who was Minteh’s manager last season at the Dutch club, is now in charge of the Merseyside club, and he is keen on having his former loan star at his disposal at Anfield. The youngster could be a great addition to the Liverpool squad in both the short as well as long run.

Not only will he add depth to their attack but the teenager also has the potential to eventually take over from Mohamed Salah. With Newcastle United ready to sell Minteh for £25 million, it will be interesting to see if the Reds do end up making a move.
