Tottenham Hotspur set sights on Vanderson

Tottenham are keen to bring Vanderson in the window to replace Emerson Royal, as talks could commence with Monaco.

According to Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade, Vanderson is a big target for Tottenham ahead of the summer. The Monaco full-back could leave the club, as former side Gemio’s sell-on clause could have an effect on Monaco’s asking price to sell the right-back.

Tottenham keen on Vanderson

Tottenham are eager to strengthen their defensive ranks in the summer as Ange Postecoglu wants a central defender and at least two full-backs for either flank. A left-back or a versatile left-sided defender has long been considered, with Stuttgart’s Hiroki Ito their latest target

On the right, they are very much secured with Pedro Porro in their ranks, but Tottenham are now planning on selling Emerson Royal and are very willing to reduce their asking price for the Brazilian full-back. Meanwhile, they are already considering replacement options, with Monaco’s Vanderson thought to be their ideal target.

Vanderson had a decent enough season at Monaco, making 20 appearances in Ligue 1. He has proven himself for his attacking output in the role. Tottenham are also interested in Lutsharel Geetruida, but the asking price for the Feyenoord star may set them back.

Vanderson had the interest of some top clubs, but as things stand, not many are openly chasing his signature apart from Spurs. Now, all eyes will be on Monaco’s asking price, with former side Gremio’s 15% sell-on clause likely to affect the going rate.

Tottenham’s plans for the summer

Apart from strengthening their defensive ranks, Postecoglou wants to reinforce in many other positions. A new midfielder might arrive in the summer, while he’s also looking at a new attacking midfielder to add to the squad.

Meanwhile, Spurs are also looking to add to the attacking setup as some off-field issues with Manor Solomon might see them part ways. At the same time, a new right winger might also arrive to compete with Dejan Kulusevski. A new striker is also on the agenda, with Ivan Toney linked, as Tottenham is planning to improve the quality of their squad in depth ahead of a season when they will be in Europe.
