Chelsea are the front-runners for the signature of Brazilian sensation Pedro Lima amidst interest from Real Madrid.
According to a report from Spanish outlet AS, Pedro Lima’s impressive rise at Sport Recife has not gone unnoticed. Top clubs from across Europe have been closely monitoring his services and could knock on the Brazilian club’s door in the summer. Chelsea are currently leading the race for the teenage full-back, but Real Madrid are waiting in the wings.
Pedro Lima got promoted to the Brazilian club’s first team at the start of 2024. The 17-year-old has already featured in 25 matches for the senior team and also has four goal contributions. The youngster has done wonders for Brazil at the youth level, and his performances for both club and country have resulted in a lot of interest.
While Sport Recife did manage to tie him down to a new four-year deal just a month after his promotion to the first team, they will find it difficult to keep hold of the jewel for too long amidst interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid.
Chelsea lead the race for Pedro Lima
The Blues have been scouting the teenage sensation for a while now and are impressed with what they have seen. While Reece James is the preferred right-back and still has years left in him. The 24-year-old has been injury-prone and as a result, Pedro Lima could be a great long-term option for them.
While Chelsea are leading the race, nothing concrete has happened yet. So, if they do not make any progress in the near future, Real Madrid are ready to pounce on an opportunity to sign the young defensive sensation.
Los Blancos are also in the mix
The Merengues have already signed quite a few gems from South America who have done wonders for them, and they have their eyes on the Sport Recife sensation. Real Madrid have scouted him and have him on their radar as a long-term investment.
With Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez both on the wrong side of 30, Real Madrid do need to plan for the future, and Pedro Lima could be a sensation signing. He won’t cost a fortune as the report suggests €6-7 million would be enough. But, with Chelsea leading the race, things will be a bit complicated for Los Blancos.
