Manchester United fail with late move for Tosin Adarabioyo

Manchester United may have left it too late in the Tosin Adarabioyo chase, as they reporteldy failed with a late bid for the defender.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United may have failed with a late bid to sign Tosin Adarabioyo, as they might have left too late in the race. The 26-year-old is all set to join Chelsea on a free transfer from Fulham, having agreed to terms with the Stamford Bridge outfit.

The Tosin Adarabioyo story so far

Tosin Adarabioyo’s decision not to renew with Fulham opened the gates for many top Premier League sides to make their cases. League rules stipulate that clubs can only talk to a soon-to-be-free-agent in May, and talks have since accelerated between the defender’s camp and some of the teams.

For a long time, Newcastle United were confident of landing him on a Bosman move, with Eddie Howe desperate for bargain deals amid a summer of financial uncertainty. However, Chelsea have stolen the march and offered the 26-year-old defender the chance to remain in London and with that in the same vicinity.

Chelsea have agreed terms with Adarabioyo, suggesting that he’s already pencilled in for an imminent medical. As things stand, the defendant seems destined for a Stamford Bridge switch, and the door has already closed for other suitors in the race, including Manchester United.

Manchester United fail with Adarabioyo bid

Manchester United were in talks with Adarabioyo’s camp, like many other clubs like Chelsea and Newcastle United. However, some reports suggested that their talks stalled following uncertainty about the managerial situation at Old Trafford

The issue might be one of the many, as INEOS was probably waiting on the season-end review to finalise the next steps in the market. However, it appears that Manchester United did make a late attempt to sign Adarabioyo but failed with a bid for the 26-year-old Chelsea target.

The Red Devils might have left it late in the race for the centre-back, who could become Enzo Maresca’s first signing as Chelsea boss. Manchester Untied have defensive requirements with at least one or two of their current stars are about to leave, including Raphael Varane.
