Tottenham Hotspur ready to lower Emerson Royal asking price

Tottenham are reportedly willing to lower Emerson Royal’s asking price and sell the defender for around €20 million, with AC Milan keen.

According to Gazzetta, Emerson Royal could be available for €20 million after Tottenham decided to drop his asking price from €30 million or so. Spurs are not interested in keeping the player beyond the summer, as they are already making plans to strengthen the right-back position during the close season.

Emerson Royal to leave Spurs?

Emerson Royal has not been a good signing from Tottenham’s perspective, and this is a player they beat competition from Arsenal to sign from Barcelona three seasons ago. Royal garnered a good enough reputation while playing for Real Betis on loan from the Catalans, but he never again showcased that form in the Premier League.

Last season, he was fortunate enough to play that many games as injuries to critical stars forced Ange Postecoglou’s hand to use the 25-year-old defender. However, the Australian boss did not use him in one specific position, as the Brazilian played all possible roles in the backline.

Tottenham are now ready to cash in on Emerson, as the report states they may have already dropped their original asking price. Spurs are now willing to sell Emerson for around €20 million, which is a reported €10 million less than their original asking price.

Whether that is enough to convince clubs to make a move for the unwanted 25-year-old defender remains to be seen. There’s considerable interest from Italy, as Spurs are ready to sell amig Milan links, while stories have been circulating that the north Londoners could also use him as part of another deal.

Milan keen on Emerson

Milan wants to shore up their right flank this summer and compete with Davide Calabria. Emerson is seen as the ideal player to come in, but the Rosoneri might want a further reduction to that asking price. Interestingly, Bayern Munich were also reported to be keen, but the 25-year-old defender seems to have made up his mind about a move to Milan.

Other reports stated Tottenham might use Emerson as part of the deal to sign Davide Frattesi, with Inter Milan looking for a new right-back amid anticipation that Denzel Dumfries might depart. Either way, the majority of the interest is coming from Italy, and that might be where the Spurs derender might probably move in the summer.
