Tottenham eyeing Viktor Gyokeres swoop

Tottenham are interested in Viktor Gyokeres and might eye up a move for the Sporting CP striker to improve their attack.

According to Give Me Sport, Tottenham are set to enter the chase for Viktor Gyokeres ahead of the summer as Ange Postecoglou eyes a prolific goalscorer. The Swedish hitman has been tremendous for Sporting CP, with a direct hand in 58 goals for the club in a title-winning campaign.

Tottenham want Viktor Gyokeres

Tottenham are keen to add to their attacking squad and are angling for a move for a prolific striker to improve their chances of finishing in the top four. They are linked with many names and have now added Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres to their long, drawn-out list.

Ange Postecoglou would consider a move for someone like Gyokeres, and looking at his 58 goal contributions for Sporting CP during the season, many sides will undoubtedly show an interest in signing the Swedish frontman, who does have a hefty release clause in his current deal in Portugal.

Gyokeres has a wide range of clubs looking to sign him, as Sporting CP will anticipate big approaches for the Swede. Manchester United are one of those keen, and now Spurs could spice up the chase, although their absence from the Champions League might have a detrimental effect on this pursuit.

Should Tottenham manage to bring a player of Gyokeres’s quality, Richarlison might be sold off to balance their act. The Brazilian has been terrible for the club since his £60 million moves from Everton, although Postecoglou could keep him if they cannot find a prolific replacement.

Spurs are chasing three more options

Gyokeres is not the only one on Tottenham’s striker shortlist, as they have eyes for RB Leipzig’s Lois Openda, among others. The idea is to bring a prolific striker who would add goals with ease and take the club to the next level. Hence, they also had links to Ivan Toney, but they are not prepared to pay Brentford’s asking price.

Tottenham are also keen on Serhou Guirassy, the prolific VfB Stuttgart striker. Of all the options mentioned, he might be the most balanced one, considering his quality and the modest release clause in his contract.
