Liverpool working hard to sign Leny Yoro

Liverpool will reportedly compete with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid for 18-year-old LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Leny Yoro is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Reds are scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the summer transfer window and working hard to turn the youngster’s head. However, the 18-year-old LOSC Lille defender, a target for Chelsea and Manchester United, wants to join Real Madrid instead.

The rise and rise of Leny Yoro

Leny Yoro has seen his stock skyrocket even though he is still in his teens. A native of Saint-Maurice, the Frenchman broke into the first-team squad at LOSC Lille as a 16-year-old and has gone from strength to strength in the last two years.

The 18-year-old turned out 44 times for Lille in the 2023/24 season, amassing over 3,500 minutes of game time while chipping in with three goals. Meanwhile, Yoro’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Real Madrid.

A man in demand

Chelsea will delve into the market for a long-term replacement for Thiago Silva, who will leave as a free agent on July 1. Several candidates, including Yoro, have thus emerged on Chelsea’s radar. As for Manchester United, they are parting ways with Raphael Varane in the summer transfer window. In addition, Jonny Evans faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford.

So, Leny Yoro has emerged as a viable target for Manchester United. However, they might be behind Liverpool, with the Reds working hard to turn the youngster’s head. That might be a tall order, with the 18-year-old having his heart set on joining Real Madrid.

Real Madrid can do with a young centre-back of Leny Yoro’s qualities. The Merengues need a young centre-back to be Eder Militao’s long-term central defensive partner, considering Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba are on the wrong side of 30. Yoro is thus an option worth considering for Real Madrid.

Leny Yoro’s desire to join Real Madrid will boost Los Blancos’ prospects of signing him in the summer transfer window. However, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United can turn the youngster’s head.
