Chelsea agree personal terms with Tosin Adarabioyo

Chelsea are reportedly close to completing the signing of Fulham defensive star Tosin Adarabioyo amidst interest from rivals.

According to a report from HITC, Tosin Adarabioyo could be Chelsea’s first summer signing as they have already agreed on personal terms with the soon-to-be free agent. While there is interest in his services from Newcastle United and Manchester United, the Blues seem to have the situation under their control.

The West London club parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino after the end of the season. While they were working on potential transfers, the focus was on ensuring they got the perfect manager to take things forward. They have convinced Leicester City boss Enzo Marseca to take charge at Stamford Bridge.

An official confirmation of Maresca’s arrival is expected in the coming days, and they could even announce their first signing of the summer post that. Things did not work out for Adarabioyo at Manchester City. But the move to Fulham has helped him establish himself in the English top flight.

With his contract running out, the 26-year-old wants to join a bigger club in the summer. Multiple top clubs from England are keen on his signature, but it seems Chelsea have already won the race.

Chelsea win the race despite interest from rivals

Manchester United were interested in having him in their squad. With Raphael Varane leaving and Jonny Evans’s future uncertain, he could be an exceptional signing for them because he will move as a free agent. But, they could not progress with a deal as they are yet to make a final decision on the future of Erik ten Hag.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United were the front-runners for his services at one point in time. They were in talks with the player’s representatives and had the green light from their end. But Adarabioyo never finalised the deal. Chelsea entered the race and made quick moves to take the lead and as per the report, they seem to have got their man.

The player has verbally agreed on terms to move to Stamford Bridge when his contract runs out at the end of the month. He will be penning down a long-term contract with the Blues. He is expected to undergo his medical in the coming week following which, there could be an official announcement.
