Radu Dragusin would consider a return to Italy, albeit on a loan deal, to improve his game time, as he does not wish to sit on the Tottenham bench.
According to Area Napoli, Radu Dragusin might consider leaving Spurs even on a loan deal ahead of the summer. The Romanian centre-back has seen limited game time since joining SPurs in January, with the player not keen on sitting on the bench when the new season starts.
Is Radu Dragusin keen on Serie A return?
Radu Dragusin did make himself to be the player he is in Italy, and there are some whispers about growing interest from Serie A in the defender. The Tottenham January signing is reportedly unhappy with his role under Ange Postecoglou, as he has spent far less time on the pitch than on the bench.
He does not want to be a substitute and believes in his ability to start games for Spurs or someone else. Tottenham did fight very hard to sign Dragusin from Genoa in January, as they beat competition from Bayern Munich in the signing of the defender.
However, Dragusin has been unable to break the partnership between Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven. However, at the end of the campaign, Postecoglou did find a way to play all three together. Playing them all at once on the pitch may not be viable for the Australian, and should that be the case, then Dragusin would consider a return to Serie A.
The report states that Dragusin might even consider a loan move back to Serie A if that would help him play regularly through a season. Napoli are keen on the Romanian, with Antonio Conte, the former Spurs boss, closing in on becoming their new manager. He would like to reinforce with at least two new centre-backs and might be open to bringing Dragusin.
Will Tottenham allow Dragusin’s departure?
The way Spurs fought hard to get Dragusin, it would be unprecedented to let the defender leave so quickly. At the end of the season, the defender’s agent made some comments that indicated the player was somewhat unhappy with his situation, although the club are planning to hold talks with the centre-back
However, Tottenham hold all the cards, and with the club making a return to European football, Postecoglou will want quality in depth in every position. Hence, the chances of the club letting Dragusin leave, even on loan, are remote.
