Paris Saint-Germain are keen on acquiring the services of Liverpool defensive mainstay Ibrahima Konate ahead of next season.
According to a report from L’Equipe, PSG are looking at ways to further bolster their defence ahead of next season and they have their eyes set on Ibrahima Konate. The French international has made quite a name for himself while playing for Liverpool and the French giants want to bring him to his homeland.
Konate’s impressive rise at RB Leipzig resulted in a move to the Merseyside club in the summer of 2021 and he hasn’t looked back since. The 25-year-old has not only established himself in the heart of their defence, but his consistent performances have also attracted a lot of interest.
PSG want Konate in their squad
With just two years left on his current deal, clubs are closely monitoring his situation as they want to prise him away from the Reds. PSG are one of the clubs who would love to add the French defender to their squad.
The Ligue 1 champions’ transfer policies have undergone major changes in the recent past. They now look to focus more on signing young players who can help them in the long run rather than spending a fortune on star names.
Konate could be a great addition to their squad as he will add more depth and he can surely fight for a place in the starting XI despite the presence of quite a few quality defenders at the club. PSG have already established contacts with the player’s representatives as they look to land him at the club.
Liverpool to offer Konate a new deal
While the French giants are keen, the player is not really pushing for a move away from the club. Meanwhile, Liverpool are working to extend his stay at the club, they are all set to offer him a new deal.
Talks regarding a new deal began a while back and Liverpool remains optimistic about him penning down a new deal. Konate was the one who wanted to wait until the season was over to discuss his future. With the season now done and dusted, the player’s camp are expected to have a meeting with the club for further talks.
While PSG are working hard to land the 25-year-old at the club, things look quite difficult for them with Liverpool pushing for a new deal.
