Liverpool, Newcastle United need monstrous offer to sign Dean Huijsen

Liverpool and Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing 19-year-old Dutch-born Spanish centre-back Dean Huijsen this summer.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Juve, Liverpool and Newcastle United are interested in Dean Huijsen. The two Premier League heavyweights are keen on signing a centre-back in the summer transfer window. But they need to present a monstrous offer to Juventus and the 19-year-old defender to secure his services.

The sudden rise of Dean Huijsen

Dean Huijsen has established himself as one of the best young prospects in Serie A. A native of Amsterdam, he spent most of his formative years in Spain before graduating from the Juventus youth division. However, he has yet to become a regular for the Bianconeri since passing out from the academy.

The 19-year-old has risen in prominence since joining AS Roma on loan from Juventus in January 2024. Huijsen has turned out 14 times for AS Roma, chipping in with two goals and one assist. The youngster will return to Juventus this summer after his temporary stint at Stadio Olimpico.

However, several high-profile clubs are keen on signing the Dutch-born Spanish wonderkid in the summer transfer window. A move to the Premier League might be on the cards, with Liverpool and Newcastle United interested in securing Dean Huijsen’s services.

Premier League move beckons?

Liverpool’s interest in Dean Huijsen is understandable. The Reds are scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the summer transfer window, with Joel Matip departing from Anfield as a free agent on July 1. So, it behoves Liverpool to invest in a highly-rated young centre-back, with the Juventus prospect emerging as a viable target.

As for Newcastle United, the Magpies will dip their toes in the market for a centre-back due to Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles’s absence due to their long-term injuries. So, several central defenders have emerged on Newcastle United’s radar, with Huijsen also an option worth considering. However, Liverpool and Newcastle need a “monstrous” offer to sign the 19-year-old whizkid.

Juventus will not entertain any offers for Huijsen unless a suitor submits an irrefutable bid. The same holds for Huijsen, who wants to establish a foothold in the first-team squad at the Allianz Stadium. So, a summer move to the Premier League will unlikely see the light of day.
