Liverpool are preparing an offer to acquire the services of Atalanta midfield star Ederson ahead of next season.
According to a report from Tuttosport, Liverpool are looking at ways to further bolster their squad in the upcoming transfer window and they have their eye set on Ederson. The Brazilian has been in exceptional form for Atalanta and the Reds feel he could be an ideal fit for their team.
The Merseyside club are preparing for a new era under Arne Slot. They want to ensure they provide the Dutch manager with everything needed to maintain the levels reached under Jurgen Klopp.
Ederson joined Atalanta in the summer of 2022 from Salernitana and he has gone from strength to strength since making the move. The 24-year-old has established himself as a mainstay in their team and his performances have attracted a lot of interest.
The Brazilian midfielder has featured in over 50 matches for the Italian club in the 2023/24 campaign and has played a big part in their Europa League win. He was a standout performer for them in the final against Xabi Alonso’s unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool want to sign Ederson
His performances have put him on the wishlist of multiple top clubs and Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in the midfielder’s services. The Reds underwent a major overhaul in midfield last summer which has done wonders for them. But they still feel the need to further reinforce their midfielder.
They want to bring in someone who can further strengthen the defensive side of things and give them more control. Ederson is someone they admire and are preparing a move for his signature in the summer.
Representatives of the English club have been present in the stands to watch Atalanta in action. While the focus has been on Teun Koopmeiners, they have also kept a close eye on Ederson’s performances.
His work has impressed their scouts following which the Reds have decided to push hard for his signature in the summer. His arrival will add a lot of quality to their ranks and with Thiago Alcântara expected to be on the move, he could be an ideal replacement.
