Premier League heavyweights Chelsea have reportedly approached the representatives of 20-year-old Argentine whizkid Agustin Giay.
According to reputed Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Agustin Giay is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues are scouring the market for a right-back and have identified the Argentine whizkid as a viable target. And they have already contacted the entourage of the CA San Lorenzo de Almagro prospect.
Who is Agustin Giay?
Agustin Giay is the latest highly-rated prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. A native of San Carlos, he began his youth career in his hometown with Club Atlético Argentino de San Carlos. However, the 20-year-old has graduated from the youth division at CA San Lorenzo de Almagro.
The youngster made his first-team debut for San Lorenzo in April 2022 and has come leaps and bounds since then. Now a regular for the Argentine outfit, Giay has turned out 84 times thus far for them, chipping in with one goal and two assists. Meanwhile, the Argentine prodigy’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of high-profile clubs across Europe.
Chelsea interested
A move to London might be on the cards for the young wide man, with Chelsea keen on securing his services in the summer transfer window. The latest update by Rudy Galetti has suggested that the Blues have approached Agustin Giay’s representatives over a possible move in the summer transfer window.
Chelsea’s interest in Agustin Giay is understandable. The Blues are considering dipping their toes in the market for a right-back in the summer transfer window due to Reece James’s recent fitness issues. While Malo Gusto did well in his debut season, Chelsea can do with a versatile wide man.
Giay has thus emerged as a viable target for Chelsea, with the West London club establishing contact with his entourage. The report by Rudy Galetti also mentions another Argentine wonderkid, with Franco Mastantuono featuring on Chelsea’s radar.
As for the move for Giay, it will be interesting to see if talks between Chelsea and CA San Lorenzo de Almagro kick off soon. But the 20-year-old is a “concrete target for the summer” for the West London club.
