Aston Villa set to demand £6-8 million to sell Philippe Coutinho

Aston Villa are willing to sanction the departure of Philippe Coutinho for £6-8 million amidst interest from his former club Vasco da Gama.

According to Rudy Galetti, Aston Villa are ready to part ways with Philippe Coutinho in the upcoming transfer window. The Brazilian winger is not a part of their plans moving ahead, as a result, they are looking to cash in on him.

Coutinho did make quite a name for himself while playing for Liverpool back in the day. His impressive performances resulted in a big-money move to Barcelona. Unfortunately, things didn’t go according to plan as he was never really able to showcase his true potential.

Coutinho’s time at Aston Villa

He joined Aston Villa in the winter of 2022 in hopes of reviving his career but even that hasn’t worked out. The 31-year-old attacking midfielder is currently on loan at Al-Duhail SC. His spell at the Qatari club ends in a month’s time after which he will return to his parent club.

But, the former Liverpool star is not a part of Unai Emery’s plans moving ahead. While the plan is to reinforce their squad further as they prepare for Champions League football, they are willing to sanction a few departures to raise funds and make room on their wage bill.

Coutinho is one of the players they are ready to sell despite his contract running until the summer of 2026. They are looking for just £6-8 million for the Brazilian attacker. Why Villa’s priority will be to get him off their books, they are also open to a loan deal.

A return to Vasco da Gama

With the 31-year-old available for a transfer, his childhood club Vasco da Gama are looking to bring him back to his homeland. Galetti has suggested that the cost of a transfer is too high for the Brazilian club. But, Fabrizio Romano has given a big update on their pursuit of Coutinho’s signature.

The Brazilian outfit are in advanced talks with the player’s camp with regards to a potential transfer. With the player keen on a return to his former club, Vasco da Gama are quite confident about getting a deal over the line.
