Arsenal eyeing Benjamin Sesko move by next month

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are looking to complete the signing of RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko by next month.

According to a report from Football Insider, Arsenal want to reinforce their attack ahead of next season. They are looking to bring in a world-class striker and have their eyes set on Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenian international made a name for himself while playing for Red Bull Salzburg before making the move to sister club Leipzig last summer. Since making the move to Germany, he has featured in a total of 42 matches and has contributed towards 20 goals.

The 20-year-old forward has found the back of the net on 18 occasions in just over 2,000 minutes of first-team football and his red-hot form in front of goal has resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.

Arsenal pushing for Sesko’s signature

While his contract runs until the summer of 2028, there is a £56 million release clause in his contract which could lead to his departure ahead of next season. Arsenal are one of the clubs that have been monitoring the Leipzig number nine for a while now

The clause in his contract needs to be triggered before the end of June and the Gunners are looking to make the most of it. They are plotting to sign the Slovenian international before 30th June.

Mikel Arteta is not happy with the output of his current strikers and he is keen on signing an out-and-out number nine who can guarantee goals. They were keen on signing Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.

But, with the Portuguese outfit not looking to negotiate for anything below his £86 million release clause. The attention seems to have shifted towards Sesko. Arteta will surely have decent funds but it won’t be unlimited. As a result, the Leipzig striker could be the ideal choice.

The Slovenian ace could be a great fit for the club, he surely has an eye for goal and will only get better with time. Meanwhile, the German club are looking to remove the clause. They are willing to offer him a new deal to ensure he continues at the club.
