Manchester United could offer Rasmus Hojlund in swap deal to sign Victor Osimhen

Manchester United could offer 21-year-old Danish prospect Rasmus Hojlund in a swap deal to sign Victor Osimhen from Serie A club Napoli.

According to Andrea D’Amico via Tutto Napoli, a swap deal featuring Rasmus Hojlund and Victor Osimhen is feasible. Manchester United are interested in signing the Nigerian striker from Serie A giants Napoli in the summer transfer window. And the Italian agent has suggested it is possible he might swap bases with Hojlund in the coming weeks.

Victor Osimhen and his Napoli journey

Victor Osimhen has established himself as one of the best players in Serie A since joining Napoli from LOSC Lille in September 2020. While he encountered a few teething problems, the 25-year-old gradually grew in stature before becoming a pivotal figure for the Partenopei.

Now one of the best strikers in the world, the Nigerian international was instrumental in helping Napoli win the Serie A title last season. However, Osimhen and Napoli endured a drop in stature and form this season, with the player managing only 17 goals and four assists in 31 appearances across all competitions.

Meanwhile, Napoli’s Serie A title defence was dreadful, and they will not qualify for the UEFA Champions League. So, a summer departure might be on the cards, with Manchester United among Osimhen’s prospective suitors, although they cannot offer Champions League football either.

Premier League move beckons?

Manchester United’s interest in Victor Osimhen is understandable. While Rasmus Hojlund has enjoyed a decent debut season at Old Trafford, the Red Devils need another striker. So, they have shown interest in several centre-forwards, with the Napoli attacker emerging as a viable target.

It has now emerged that Manchester United could offer Hojlund in a swap deal to sign Osimhen. The suggestion seems preposterous, considering the Danish international is a long-term investment from Manchester United. However, Italian agent Andrea D’Amico has suggested that such an operation is feasible.

Manchester United will likely face stiff competition from several other European bigwigs for Victor Osimhen’s signature, with recent reports claiming he is waiting for Chelsea to submit an offer. However, despite D’Amico’s suggestions of a swap deal involving Hojlund and the Nigerian striker will unlikely see the light of day.
