Arsenal have identified Portuguese international Pedro Neto as a top target for the summer amid interest from Manchester City.
According to a report from Give Me Sport, Arsenal are keen on reinforcing their attack ahead of next season, and they have their eyes set on Pedro Neto. While the Gunners had a few other targets in mind, the Portuguese winger has slowly gone up the pecking order, and the £60 million-rated winger is a priority target for them heading into the window.
Neto has been a part of the Wolves squad since 2019. He has gone from strength to strength over the years and has been a consistent performer for them. While the 2023/24 season has not been that great because of injuries, he still has three goals and 11 assists in just 24 outings.
The former Lazio winger is all set to feature for Portugal at the Euros, and his performances in the continental tournament could further increase the amount of interest in him. While he still has around three years left on his deal, clubs are willing to try and prise him away from Wolves.
Guardiola’s team linked with Neto
Manchester City are one of the clubs that have been linked with the 24-year-old. Manchester City are always on the lookout for players who can further bolster their squad, and they feel Neto could do wonders for them.
He is good on the ball, can dribble past opponents, score goals and can feature almost anywhere in attack which makes him a great fit for Pep Guardiola’s style of play. While Manchester City have been linked with Neto for a while and would love to sign him, Arsenal are also in the mix.
The Gunners are looking to further reinforce their squad after suffering yet another disappointment in the title race. They finish second behind Guardiola’s team, and their manager Mikel Arteta is holding internal discussions with sporting director Edu over plans to improve the squad.
Arsenal want a new winger, Neto a top priority
Arsenal are looking to bring in a player who can feature out wide. They want someone who can compete with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard for a place in the starting XI. While Arsenal were keen on having Nico Williams and Michael Olise in their squad, signing either of them won’t be easy.
The Athletic Club star has huge wage demands, while Crystal Palace are not ready to part ways with Olise. As a result, Neto has gone up their shortlist and they are looking to land him in the summer.
Rumours suggest Wolves are looking for around £80 million for the 24-year-old and the report states that Arsenal will only enter formal discussion once it is clear that their rivals are looking for a realistic fee of £60 million, and they are willing to accept such an offer.
