Tottenham Hotspur plot double move for Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah

Tottenham are looking to acquire the services of Chelsea’s homegrown duo of Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah.

According to a report from HITC, Tottenham are interested in signing Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah ahead of next season. The North London club are looking at ways to bolster their squad in the summer and the Chelsea duo are quite high on their wishlist as they look to strengthen the defence as well as the midfield.

Ange Postecoglou’s first season at the North London club didn’t really end in the best possible way as they missed out on Champions League football following their poor run in the final phase. However, there has been a lot of progress at the club under the Australian manager.

They have been playing an attacking and attractive brand of football. More, importantly they are back in Europe after having missed out last time around. While there is a lot of positive for Spurs from the recently concluded season, Postecoglou has identified areas that need further reinforcement.

He is looking for an overhaul ahead of next season and in order to reinforce the midfield and defence in particular, Spurs have their eyes set on Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah.

Chelsea’s long-standing interest in Gallagher

The Blues midfielder has been on their radar for months. While he is an integral part of the Chelsea first team and has featured in the majority of the matches this season, his contract at the club is running out. There is no development concerning a new deal which means they could look to sanction his departure in the summer.

Gallagher is seen as an ideal fit for the Australian manager’s system. He is someone who can contribute at both ends and has a high work rate which makes him a sensational option for Postecoglou.

Chalobah set to leave Chelsea in the summer

Chalobah hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular at Chelsea despite having broken into the first team back in 2021. The 24-year-old missed the first half of the season because of an injury but he has been a regular in the starting XI in the final weeks of the season.

Despite his performances in the second half of the season, it seems his time at the club will end in the upcoming transfer window. While he would prefer to remain at Chelsea, the club have already made it clear that they want to move him on.

Meanwhile, Spurs seek more depth at the back. Despite having signed two centre-backs over the past two windows, they are still in search of another centre-back to provide the much-needed depth. Chalobah could be an ideal fit for them as he has enough experience of playing in the top flight.

More importantly, a deal for the 24-year-old would only cost around £30 million including add-ons which is the right price for a club like Tottenham.
