Arsenal are looking to reinforce their attack ahead of next season by acquiring the services of Ajax sensation Brian Brobbey.
According to a report from The Independent, Arsenal are interested in the services of Brian Brobbey and could make a move for him in the summer. The Gunners are looking to sign a top-quality striker ahead of next season, and the Ajax sensation’s name is quite high on their wishlist.
Brobbey was a part of the Ajax youth setup back in the day. While he did have a short stint at RB Leipzig, he has been a part of the Dutch club for the majority of his career. He has gone from strength to strength since returning to the club on a permanent basis in 2022.
In the 2023/24 season, the Dutch international seems to have taken his game to another level. The 22-year-old has found the back of the net on 22 occasions and he also has 12 assists to his name in his 43 outings. His consistent performances throughout the season have not gone unnoticed. Multiple top clubs from across Europe are keeping a close eye on him.
Arsenal want a new number nine
While Brobbey’s contract at Ajax runs until 2027, clubs will look to prise him away from the Dutch club in the summer. Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in his services, and they considering making a move when the window opens. The Gunners are looking to sign a world-class number nine in order to help them take the next step.
Arsenal feel a top-quality striker could help them in their pursuit of major titles. They wanted to sign a striker back in January. But things did not go according to plan for them. Arsenal are now all set to return for a number nine, and they are looking to make it happen before the start of their pre-season tour.
Mikel Arteta feels adding a quality striker will complete his team and help them finally lift the league title next season. While Newcastle’s Alexander Isak is at the top of their wishlist, the Magpies are unlikely to sanction his departure given the importance of the player in their setup.
Brobbey is on Arsenal’s radar
Arsenal will most likely shift their focus towards Brian Brobbey, who is quite high on their wishlist. The 22-year-old has been in exceptional form over the past 12 months, and he surely has a bright future ahead. As a result, the Gunners could knock on Ajax’s door for his signature. A move might be possible
The Dutch international has the potential to be a special player, and he could be a great fit for Arteta’s team. But, it will be interesting to see if they can strike a deal for him before the start of the pre-season as the Spanish manager is quite keen on having the entire squad at his disposal as they prepare for next season.
