Serie A giants Napoli are interested in the services of Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood amidst his uncertain future at Old Trafford.
According to a report from talkSPORT, Manchester United will look to sanction the departure of Mason Greenwood in the upcoming summer transfer window amidst interest in his services from across Europe. Napoli are one of the clubs interested, and they have contacted the Red Devils regarding a potential transfer.
Greenwood’s time at Manchester United and the comeback at Getafe
Greenwood came up the ranks at Manchester United and had an immediate impact after getting promoted to the first team. He has an impressive start to his senior career, but things took a turn when he got arrested in January 2022 on the back of rape allegations.
The charges against him were dropped, and he was cleared to return to action midway through last season. The Red Devils decided to undergo an internal investigation, and he was kept waiting. Following the investigation, they decided to send him out on loan to Getafe on the final day of the window ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Since joining the Spanish club, he has featured in a total of 34 matches and has contributed towards 16 goals (10 goals, 6 assists). Greenwood’s return to football has been exceptional, and it has resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.
While Getafe want to extend his loan spell for another 12 months, Greenwood looks determined to join a bigger club as he is aware of the amount of interest in him. Manchester United’s new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe refused to rule out Greenwood’s future at the club back in the day, but it seems the Red Devils have decided to part ways with him.
Napoli keen on Mason Greenwood
With his contract running out in the summer of 2025, Manchester United are looking to sanction his departure and raise funds from it. Napoli are one of the clubs keen on his signature. The Italian giants have contacted the English giants regarding a move in the summer.
They are looking to find out the cost of the operation. The Partenopei want to reinforce their attack and they feel the 22-year-old could be a great addition to their ranks. He has been in sensational form this season and will only get better with time.
While the Italian giants are keen on having him at their disposal, they are not the only ones interested. They will face stiff competition for his signature and Manchester United will demand a significant fee for him.
