Tottenham Hotspur are looking to step up their interest in the services of Manchester United target Serhou Guirassy.
According to a report from Give Me Sport, Tottenham Hotspur will look to sign a new number nine ahead of next season on a priority basis. While they have quite a few world-class forwards on their wishlist, Serhou Guirassy has become a top target for the North London club.
Guirassy’s career has taken off since he made the move from Stade Rennais to VfB Stuttgart in the summer of 2022. While it was an initial loan deal, the transfer was made permanent last summer on the back of an impressive debut season where bagged 14 goals.
The 28-year-old has been in sensational goalscoring form in the ongoing season. He has found the back of the net on 26 occasions in his 27 league outings and also has two assists to his name. In addition, he has 28 goals across competitions due to his two strikes in DFB Pokal. Guirassy’s incredible numbers have resulted in interest from top clubs across Europe.
Tottenham keen on Serhou Guirassy’s signature
Tottenham are one of the clubs that are interested in having him in their ranks. While Ange Postecoglou’s team have coped well with Harry Kane’s departure, and Son Heung-min has done an incredible job as a striker, the Australian is keen on signing an out-and-out striker.
Quite a few world-class strikers have been linked with the North London club. But, recent reports suggest Serhou Guirassy has emerged as a top target following his goalscoring heroics. Spurs have a genuine interest in signing the Stuttgart striker, and his bargain release clause is one of the major reasons why he is at the top of their wishlist.
The former Rennais forward’s current deal has a clause worth just £15 million, which is way lower than what Tottenham will have to fork out for their other targets. While there are some concerns about the fact that he is already 28 and this is his first standout campaign, people at Tottenham have found it difficult to ignore his goal-scoring form.
While Tottenham are looking to step up their interest in Guirassy’s services, they might have to battle it out with Manchester United for his signature.
