According to a report by Spanish outlet COPE, Alphonso Davies and Leny Yoro have been top defensive targets for Real Madrid heading into the summer transfer window. However, neither defender will join Los Blancos, with the club instead preferring Rafa Marin and Miguel Gutierrez as the candidates to bolster the backline.

Alphonso Davies has been one of the best left-backs in the world in the last few years. A marauding winger when he joined Bayern Munich from Vancouver Whitecaps, the 23-year-old blossomed into a full-back under the tutelage of Hansi Flick and has not looked back in recent seasons.
The Canadian international has turned out nearly 200 times thus far for Bayern Munich, chipping in with ten goals and 31 assists. However, Davies’s long-term future at the Bavarian club has been uncertain in the last few months, as he will enter the final 12 months of his contract in July. Such a situation has captured the attention of several top clubs, including Real Madrid.
As for Leny Yoro, the Frenchman is one of the best young centre-backs in the world. A graduate of the LOSC Lille youth division, he is already a mainstay at the back for Les Dogues despite being only 18 years old. The youngster has made 43 appearances thus far this term, chipping in with three goals.
Men in demand
Like Alphonso Davies, Leny Yoro has been a target for Real Madrid ahead of the summer transfer window. The Merengues have been keen on signing a centre-back and a left-back before entering the 2024/25 season. However, Ferland Mendy’s exceptional performances have turned Carlo Ancelotti’s head, with the Italian tactician backing the Frenchman to the hilt.
So, Real Madrid will re-sign Miguel Gutierrez in the summer transfer window to bolster the left-back berth. As for the central defensive arsenal, Rafa Marin will return from his loan spell at Deportivo before the Spanish giants integrate him into the first-team squad.
