Everton and Leeds United are reportedly vying for the signature of 27-year-old Southampton striker Che Adams.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Che Adams will leave Southampton as a free agent in the summer transfer window. The 27-year-old has informed the Premier League promotion hopefuls that he wants to embark on a new adventure. Everton and Leeds United are among his prospective suitors over a possible Bosman move.
Che Adams and his rollercoaster Southampton ride
Che Adams has blown hot and cold since joining Southampton from Birmingham City FC in July 2019. A native of Leicester, he has chosen Scotland as his national side, making his international debut in March 2021. Meanwhile, he has enjoyed an excellent 2023/24 campaign thus far with the Saints.
The 27-year-old has amassed 17 goals and six assists in 45 appearances across all competitions, playing a pivotal role in taking the EFL Championship club close to securing promotion to the Premier League. However, Adams will leave Southampton as a free agent in the summer transfer window, looking to embark on a new adventure in the 2024/25 season.
Adams does not have a shortage of suitors pursuing his signature, with Everton and Leeds United keen on signing him in a Bosman move in the summer transfer window. In addition, Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in securing his services.
A man in demand
Everton pursued Che Adams last summer before a move failed to materialise. However, the continued interest in the Scottish international is surprising, considering the Toffees have three strikers in the first-team squad. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the first-choice centre-forward, with Beto and Youssef Chermiti being his backups. So, it is difficult to see how Adams will fit into the scheme of things at Everton.
The same logic applies to Leeds United, although with Patrick Bamford blowing hot and cold, the Whites can do with a striker who has Premier League experience, especially if they return to the top flight. However, Wolverhampton Wanderers might have the best case to present to the 27-year-old.
While Matheus Cunha is the first-choice striker at the Molineux, Wolverhampton Wanderers need another option to push the Brazilian centre-forward. So, it will be interesting to see where the Scottish international lands after leaving Southampton in a few weeks.
