Liverpool expected to agree new deal with Jarell Quansah

Liverpool are expecting an imminent agreement in the summer with 21-year-old defender Jarell Quansah on a new long-term deal.

According to Ben Jacobs on Give Me Sport, Jarell Quansah is expected to agree to a long-term deal with Liverpool. The club are eager to reward him with fresh terms following the 21-year-old’s breakthrough season, where he has made 16 Premier League appearances.

Liverpool to reward Jarell Quansah with a new deal?

Jurgen Klopp will likely leave a significant mark on Liverpool supporters after delivering another top-rated academy graduate to the future manager. Arne Slot will inherit Jarell QWuansah in his side ahead of next season, with the 21-year-old making a stellar impression this season with his performances.

Liverpool fans were left worried by the season-ending injury to experienced defender Joel Matip, who is set to go in the summer. Jarell Quansah stepped out of nowhere and, since the end of the campaign, has become a regular starter under Klopp, making 16 appearances in the Premier League, with eleven of those coming in the starting lineup.

Liverpool have plans to offer him a new deal, and now, as per Ben Jacobs, QWuansah is expected to sign fresh terms at Anfield. It’s a great gift from Klopp to the club, who may have had to spend millions on signing a readymade replacement for Matip in the summer, which Quansah can now fulfil.

Jacobs insists Liverpool deeply values Quansah and has been impressed by his presence in that backline over a difficult period mired by injury troubles to key stars. Now, as his new deal seems imminent, he might want to emulate some of the greats with some future performances.

Jacobs said, “Liverpool values Quansah. He’s one of the players who has stood out, and Liverpool tends to reward such players to make sure that they feel valued and that their long-term future is settled. “Nothing is agreed or signed at this point, but the expectation is that Quansah will get an improved-terms deal.”

Liverpool will strengthen their defence

Liverpool may have found a solution in Quansah, but there are other areas of the defence that need strengthening. For instance, the club lacks a left-footed centre-back, with the likes of Willian Pacho and Goncalo Inacio part of Arne Slot’s list

Moreover, they might even look to sign full-backs for either side, with Arne Slot likely to use Trent Alexander-Arnold in a midfield role, as per many reports. Hence, while they can have an emerging player like Quansah on their side, Arne Slot will want further incomings in defence ahead of the summer.
