Chelsea make contact with agent to sign Pedro Lima

Chelsea have contacted the agent of teenage Brazilian defender Pedro Lima to discuss details, and the Blues are probably to make an offer.

According to Jornal Da Paraiba, Pedro Lima has continued to attract Chelsea’s interest ahead of the summer. The Blues are in contact with his agent, Renatinho Guimaraes, ahead of a possible transfer approach. The 17-year-old will turn 18 on July 1, which makes sense for Chelsea to make a bid in the summer.

Chelsea contacted Pedro Lima’ agent

Chelsea is eager to continue with their quest to bring the best of young talents to the club, with Todd Boehly & Co. likely to resume their transfer activity after a brief pause. PSR obligations have kept Chelsea a bit quiet on the transfer front, especially with their spending on young stars.

The Blues are looking to improve on an excellent end to the current season, and that could see them recruit some senior players in the next window. However, they have sorted out their finances in recent days with the sale of a few properties to relieve some pressure with PSR obligations.

With Chelsea set to resume their tracking of young stars, they have set sights on Pedro Lima, the Brazilian defender from Sport Recife in the Brazilian second division. The Blues have kept tabs on him along with many other Premier League sides, and now they have contacted his agent, Renatinho Guimaraes, to find out more details, including the possibility of making a transfer approach.

The teenager might open his doors for a transfer should a team like Chelsea come into the equation. The finer details on how much Sport Recife might demand for the Brazilian defender remain the question. Still, the Blues will have the financial resources to bring a player of the teenager’s quality in the summer, meaning a bid is quite the possibility.

Who is Pedro Lima

Lima has been silently starring for Sport Recife this season, notching 2 senior appearances for the side. Many other sides have kept tabs on his performances since the turn of the year, which could see Chelsea’s face competition for his signature.

While Brazilian rules do not permit players under the age of 17 to move abroad, Lima will turn 18 on July 1, so it would make more sense for Chelsea or others to make a bid now. He does have a big future ahead, as his displays have shown a hint of maturity and an eye for the attacking side of the game from his right-back position.
