Manchester United ready to open talks for Ronald Araujo

Manchester United are all set to open talks for the services of the 25-year-old Barcelona mainstay Ronald Araujo.

According to a report by CaughtOffside, Manchester United are planning for a big summer of transfers and Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo is one of the names on their wishlist. The Red Devils are all set to open talks in hopes of signing the 25-year-old in the summer.

Araujo who got promoted to Barcelona’s first team in the summer of 2020 has been a constant feature in their backline over the past few seasons. He has established himself as one of the mainstays in the team and has been integral to the little success that they have had amidst the ongoing financial crisis.

Ronald Araujo’s uncertain future

His performances have attracted a lot of interest in the recent past. While there are still two years left on his deal with the Catalan giants, there is a lot of uncertainty around his future.

The player is quite happy to continue at Barcelona and even the Spanish giants are keen on selling him. However, there are multiple reasons that could lead to a potential exit in the upcoming transfer window.

The Spanish club’s financial situation means they could consider selling a few of their stars to balance their books and raise funds to reinforce their team. While Araujo is an important part of their team, offers in the region of €100 million will surely be considered by the Catalan giants. Meanwhile, the player might also be open to a move away for a long-term contract with much better pay.

Manchester United open talks for Araujo

Manchester United are the ones keen on having him in their squad as they look to reinforce their defence ahead of next season. Their interest comes amid uncertainty over the future of Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans.

All three of their defensive stars could leave Old Trafford this summer. As a result, they are looking for a world-class defender and Araujo is a top target for them.

The Red Devils are all set to enter into talks with the 25-year-old’s agents over a potential €100 million transfer in the summer. They will certainly look to make some progress during the talks but it will be interesting to see if they can strike a deal with Barcelona and convince the player about the move.

Moreover, things will get much more difficult for them as they do not have Champions League football to offer and there will be competition for his signatures as well.
