Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has his say on Arsenal being linked with AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana.
According to Fabrizio Romano via CaughtOffside, Youssouf Fofana is on the radar of multiple top clubs from across Europe. While he has been linked with Arsenal, there is nothing concrete with the North London club at this point in time.
Fofana’s impressive rise & links with Arsenal
Fofana has had an exceptional season with AS Monaco and there is no surprise to see the amount of interest in his services. The 25-year-old French midfielder has been a standout performer in Ligue 1 this season and there could be a bidding war for his services.
The French international joined Monaco back in the winter of 2020 and he has only gone from strength to strength since. He has established himself as a mainstay in the club and has managed to cement his spot in the national team as well.
On the back of his exceptional performances, the 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Arsenal. The Gunners are looking to reinforce their midfield in the summer and some outlets have linked them with the French international.

While talking about the recent rumours of Arsenal’s interest in Fofana, Romano said: “Arsenal continue to be linked with midfielders ahead of this summer’s transfer window, with Youssouf Fofana of Monaco the latest name circulating in some media outlets,”
“I can guarantee that for Fofana there’s a lot of interest but nothing concrete at this point with Arsenal or any club. Fofana will decide his future in the summer, not now. So nothing concrete is happening at the moment. Arsenal have some priorities in the midfield and I can confirm the names I mentioned in the recent months such as Douglas Luiz and Martin Zubimendi.
“I’ve been impressed with Fofana’s performances so I’m not surprised he’s a name making headlines, but that’s just normal speculation that we always get at this time of year.”
Arsenal’s plans for the midfield
Romano has made it clear that Arsenal are keen on signing a new midfielder in the summer. They are looking to bring him someone who can help them form a partnership with Declan Rice in the centre of the park.
While they have been linked with Fofana, there is nothing concrete about those rumours. The transfer expert has played down the rumours linking the 25-year-old with a move to the North London club.
The Gunners are expected to push for the likes of Douglas Luiz and Martin Zubimendi who have been on their radar for a while now. With Jorginho and Thomas Partey’s future uncertain, their interest in the duo is quite understandable.
While Arsenal are not really in the mix for Fofana’s signatures, there is no shortage of interest in his services. According to Romano, the player hasn’t made any decisions regarding his future yet and is expected to make one in the summer after the season is done and dusted.
