Arsenal make decision on Mohamed Elneny future

Arsenal are set to part ways with Mohamed Elneny in the summer as the last remaining Arsene Wenger-era player could leave.

According to Caught Offside, Arsenal will not offer a new deal to Mohamed Elneny that could see the 31-year-old midfielder leave the club. The Egyptian is the last known player at the club who Arsene Wenger signed, as Mikel Arteta eyes many midfield changes during the summer window.

Mohamed Elneny to leave Arsenal?

Mohamed Elneny remains the last known Arsene Wenger-era player left at Arsenal, and he could soon leave the club when the season ends. The Gunners offered him a one-year extension last summer as he was injured at the time, and they do not plan to repeat the trick this time.

He has barely featured for the club this season, and Mikel Arteta might have decided to part ways with the 31-year-old midfielder this summer. The Spaniard is already planning on revamping his midfield and may have even wanted to sell him in January when he had turned up fit.

However, Arsenal are seemingly open to letting him run down his contract and then leave on a free transfer when they plan to sign a new midfielder on priority. The 31-year-old midfielder has made 161 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, and since Arteta came in, he has been utilised as a bench option for most parts.

Arsenal are also considering Thomas Partey’s future, with some reports suggesting they have a price in mind for the midfielder. Jorginho’s future might have also come under significant doubt with an expiring contract, while Martin Zubimendi is considered a priority target by Arteta, so plenty of changes are planned. As for Elneny, he might have to find a new club soon, with some sides already showing an interest.

Turkey or Saudi Arabia for Elneny next?

There are significant rumours about Elneny’s next club as there’s interest from clubs outside of England. Should some Premier League sides be interested, it would not be a surprise as the 31-year-old midfielder has massive experience in this league. However, there are Saudi Arabian clubs keen, with Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq mentioned as a suitor.

As per some reports, Turkish sides Besiktas and Galatasaray are also keen, with Elneny spending a season with the former on loan during 2019-20.
